On October 20th, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the value-added of industrial enterprises above a certain size increased by 6.2% year-on-year from January to September. Specifically, in the first three quarters, the value-added of equipment manufacturing enterprises above a certain size increased by 9.7% year-on-year, with the cumulative value-added accounting for 35.9% of all industrial enterprises above a certain size, exceeding 30% for 31 consecutive months, further highlighting its "ballast" role. Meanwhile, the value-added of high-tech manufacturing enterprises increased by 9.6%, with a growth rate 3.4 percentage points higher than that of all industrial enterprises above a certain size.
In terms of growth, from January to September, the output growth of robot reducers exceeded that of all other industrial products above a certain size. The output of industrial robots and service robots was 594,800 units and 13.5 million units respectively, ranking high in terms of growth, and placing second and fifth respectively in the detailed tables provided by the statistics bureau.

Meanwhile, as the core component with the highest cost proportion (accounting for approximately 35%), the technical level and localization degree of the reducer are also key factors affecting the competitiveness of China's robotics industry.
It is noteworthy that, in terms of products, the output of robot reducers surged by 1.2 times in the first three quarters. Additionally, the output of industrial robots, service robots, and other products also exhibited double-digit growth, increasing by 29.8% and 16.3% respectively. When answering reporters' questions about the operation of the national economy in the first three quarters of 2025, the spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics mentioned that the output of industrial robots, service robots, and multiple unit trains increased by 29.8%, 16.3%, and 8.6% respectively in the first three quarters. "The development of new productive forces will continue to create new growth points, effectively stimulate the vitality of independent innovation and the momentum for industrial upgrading, and also help to offset downward pressure and enhance upward momentum.".
Currently, the technological approaches to reducers are diverse, and there is no dominant single technology. Precision reducers include harmonic reducers, RV reducers, cycloid pin wheel planetary reducers, and precision planetary reducers. Among them, the joint module solutions for humanoid robots primarily rely on planetary and harmonic reducers. However, planetary reducers have sufficient stiffness but lack precision, while harmonic reducers have sufficient precision but weak shock resistance. Humanoid robot joints require transmission parts that balance "precision, stiffness, and power," posing higher demands on existing reducers. Everbright Securities states that cycloid reducers combine the advantages of harmonic and planetary reducers, representing a new direction for humanoid robot joint transmission. RV reducers are also a type of cycloid reducer. Domestic manufacturer Shuanghuan Transmission has made technological breakthroughs based on the original RV reducers, making them well-suited for the knee and hip joints of humanoid robots, meeting the requirements of high precision, high stability, high stiffness, and large load capacity.
